The personal highlighting feature in AMBOSS allows you to highlight any text within an AMBOSS article so you can refer back to it later. You will find the toggle to enable personal highlighting at the top of each article. Just switch on the My highlighting toggle to try it out!
Please note that the personal highlighting feature is currently only available on the desktop version of the platform, and is only available in blue.
Did you know? AMBOSS also has another feature in our Library that highlights information that is high-yield for your Current Study Objective. These highlights are predetermined by our Medical Editors. The feature is called Key exam info, and you can learn more about it in this article.

How do I create a highlight in an article?
- Open any article inside our Library on the desktop version of the platform
- Click and drag to select any text inside the article
- Click on the color in the menu that appears
- The text will now remain highlighted for future reference and will be there when you return!
- You will be able to toggle the visibility of your personal highlights by selecting the My highlighting feature at the top of each article
How do I remove a highlight I've made?
- Hover your mouse over a highlight you have created (there is no need to re-select the highlight)
- Click on the cancel icon in the menu that appears, as indicated in the screenshot below
Are my highlights visible in mobile apps?
Not yet! If you’d like to see your highlights in your mobile apps or if you have any additional feedback or feature requests, please feel free to submit your insights via the chat icon on the bottom right corner of your screen.
Are my highlights private?
Yes, your highlights are only visible to you.
