Admins and Educators can create assignments by selecting Create Assignment from the Educator Assignments overview page.
On the Create Assignment page, Educators can:
- Choose the Assignment Title (editable title; default title is “Assignment from [date + time]”).
-
Define assignment type.
Questions with or without article: this continues into the question selection process, and then allows for the article selection.
Articles only: This disables question selection and prompts you to continue to the Edit screen where articles can be added. See Assigning Articles page for more information. - Select which question pool to choose from (Licensing and Subject Exams or Specialty Board Exams).
Note: mixing the question selection from multiple board exam question pools or multiple USMLE question pools is possible; mixing the question selection across parent question pools (e.g., from USMLE Step 3 and ABIM) is not possible. -
Filter questions by various criteria:
System: every question is assigned one System;
Discipline: every question can be assigned multiple Disciplines;
Article: every question is linked to a single Article- this filter allows very granular question sessions;
Competency: every question is assigned a single Competency (also known as physician task);
Difficulty level: ranges from 1 hammer (the easiest 5% of questions) to 5 hammer (the hardest 5% of questions); hammer levels are auto-assigned based on answer statistics. - Exclude Questions from Assignments- to avoid repeating questions from past assignments, educators can exclude specific assignments, ensuring learners encounter fresh material.
- Determine Question Count- educators can select the number of counts to include. The chosen questions are randomly selected from the filtered pool. Assignments can contain up to 1,000 questions.
Note: Educators can see and edit all of the assignments that 1. they created and 2. that are assigned to a group they are members of. Ownership (designated “Owner”) of assignments cannot be transferred. But, assignments can be shared with other educators, enabling them to view, edit, duplicate, etc. Admins can see and edit all assignments.
Add collaborating Educators to an assignment
To add other Educators to an assignment for collaboration purposes, please follow the instructions below:
- Create a Collaboration Group: Add collaborating educators to a group (this can also be the same group as the relevant Learners).
- Assign to the Group: When creating an assignment, assign it to the group with the collaborating educator(s).
- Access for Collaborators: All educators in the group will be able to view the assignment in "Educator Assignments" and “Assignment Insights” within Data & Analytics. Please note that collaborators won't receive any email notifications.
Note: Any filters applied will be autosaved and added by default in subsequent assignments that are created. Via Reset filters, Educators can remove existing filters for the Q pool and/or the sub-filtering.
