The Normalized Score shows your overall AMBOSS Qbank performance on the scoring scale of your exam. It's available if your Study Objective is NEET PG, INI-CET, or FMGE.
You'll find it on the Performance tab of your Analysis, next to your other performance metrics. The arrow below the score shows how it has changed over the last 30 days.
How is the Normalized Score calculated?
Every Qbank question you answer for your Study Objective is scored using that exam's official marking scheme: points for correct answers, and deductions for incorrect answers if the exam uses negative marking.
We then compare the points you earned with the maximum you could have earned from the questions you answered, and scale the result to the exam's full score range.
Normalized Score = (your points ÷ maximum possible points for your answered questions) × exam's maximum score
Skipped questions are not included in the calculation.
What does "normalized" mean?
The AMBOSS Qbank has far more questions than your exam, and you'll answer a different number of questions in every session. Simply adding up your points wouldn't give you a number you can compare with the real exam.
"Normalized" means we convert your performance into a proportion of the maximum possible points and then express it on your exam's scale. That way, your score is comparable whether you've answered 50 questions or 5,000.
Note: This is not the same as the normalization or percentile calculation that exam authorities such as NBEMS apply to official results. The AMBOSS Normalized Score is based only on your Qbank answers.
How should I interpret my Normalized Score?
A higher Normalized Score means stronger overall Qbank performance under your exam's marking rules. Because it reflects negative marking, it can differ quite a bit from your percentage of correct answers.
Use it to track your progress over time across your preparation, rather than to judge a single session or topic. The more questions you answer, the more stable and meaningful your score becomes.
The Normalized Score is not a prediction of the score you'll receive on exam day. Qbank questions, conditions, and difficulty differ from the real exam.
FAQs
Why don't I see a Normalized Score?
The Normalized Score is only shown for the Study Objectives NEET PG, INI-CET, and FMGE. You also need to answer at least 40 Qbank questions for your Study Objective before your score appears.
Do skipped questions affect my score?
No. Only questions you answered count toward your Normalized Score. Keep in mind that on exam day, every skipped question is a missed chance to earn points, so your Normalized Score shows how well you do on the questions you attempt, not the effect of skipping.
What happens if I answer a question more than once?
Every attempt counts. If you answer the same question three times, all three answers are included in your score. Your earlier answers stay in the calculation, so re-answering questions you got wrong will raise your score gradually rather than replacing the earlier result.
Do questions I answered using hints count?
Yes. A question answered correctly with the help of hints counts as correct. A question you gave up on counts as incorrect.
Can my Normalized Score be negative?
Yes, for exams with negative marking (e.g., NEET PG and INI-CET). If your incorrect answers cost more points than your correct answers earn, your score drops below zero.
Why is my Normalized Score different from my percentage of correct answers?
Your percentage of correct answers treats every incorrect answer the same. The Normalized Score applies your exam's marking scheme, including negative marking, just like your real exam.

How it's calculated
We add up your points from all Qbank questions you've answered for NEET PG, using the scheme above.
We divide this by the maximum you could have earned from those answered questions (4 points per question).
We multiply the result by 720.
Normalized Score = (your points ÷ (number of answered questions × 4)) × 720
Example
You've done 100 Qbank questions:
75 correct → 75 × 4 = 300 points
15 incorrect → 15 × −1 = −15 points
10 skipped → not counted
Your points: 300 − 15 = 285
Maximum possible: 90 answered questions × 4 = 360
Normalized Score: 285 ÷ 360 × 720 = 570 / 720

Because of negative marking, each incorrect answer costs you 1 point, so guessing can lower your score.
Your Normalized Score can range from −180 (all answered questions incorrect) to 720 (all answered questions correct).

How it's calculated
We add up your points from all Qbank questions you've answered for INI-CET, using the scheme above.
We divide this by the maximum you could have earned from those answered questions (1 point per question).
We multiply the result by 200.
Normalized Score = (your points ÷ number of answered questions) × 200

You've done 100 Qbank questions:
75 correct → 75 × 1 = 75 points
15 incorrect → 15 × −⅓ = −5 points
10 skipped → not counted
Your points: 75 − 5 = 70
Maximum possible: 90 answered questions × 1 = 90
Normalized Score: 70 ÷ 90 × 200 ≈ 155.6 / 200

Because of negative marking, every 3 incorrect answers cancel out 1 correct answer.
Your Normalized Score can range from about −66.7 (all answered questions incorrect) to 200 (all answered questions correct).
