Activity description
Purpose:
This activity supports clinicians in translating high-impact research published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) and content in accompanying AMBOSS articles into evidence-based clinical practice. Through structured appraisal and discussion of recent landmark studies, and review of accompanying AMBOSS articles, participants will develop skills in critically evaluating new evidence and determining its relevance to specific patient populations, and will be able to integrate learnings into diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making in everyday clinical care.
Target audience:
Physicians and advanced practice providers in internal medicine who seek to strengthen their evidence-based clinical practice and stay current with rapidly evolving medical research.

Content:
The course content was developed jointly by AMBOSS and NEJM Group physician authors and editors. All educational materials are based on best-practice guidelines and high-impact published studies that adhere to accepted standards of scientific evidence. Content is free of commercial bias, and complies with the ACCME’s Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education.

To earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for this activity, all of the following requirements must be met:
Complete all 6 modules (i.e., for each module: watch the video, read the linked AMBOSS articles, and complete the practice questions)
Complete the post-course quiz and achieve a minimum score of 70%.
Submit the activity evaluation.
Learning objectives
Describe the underlying disease mechanisms, pathophysiology, and key clinical concepts relevant to each condition addressed.
Critically appraise the research question, study design, methodology, and endpoints of the selected NEJM articles to determine the validity and clinical relevance of the evidence.
Assess outcomes of the NEJM research presented (including benefits, risks, and limitations) and content in the accompanying AMBOSS articles to guide evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making for appropriate patient populations.
Summarize clinically relevant findings from the discussed recent NEJM research and accompanying AMBOSS articles to inform patient management strategies and communicate evidence-based clinical reasoning when discussing respective care decisions with colleagues and patients.

In order to receive a Certificate of Credit (physicians) or a Certificate of Participation (non-physicians) for participation in this activity, learners must complete the evaluation and submit a request for credit.
The evaluation and credit submission request can be accessed at the conclusion of the course on your CME page via https://www.amboss.com/us. Ensure you are in the “Clinical Care” tab, then click on your profile at the top right and on “View your CME page.” Certificates will be automatically generated upon submission of the evaluation.
The deadline to claim credit is 30 days after the activity expiration date.
